Senior Ladies away to Clane. Tue at 7.15pm
May 4, 2015, 7:03 pm

The senior ladies travel to Clane tomorrow eveing for the final game of their round robin stages of the Div 2 league. They need a win to secure a home semi final. A big effort will be required as Clane are probably the most improved side in this division of the last 2 years. Best of luck.

Seniors come up well short to Sash
May 4, 2015, 7:00 pm

The senior lads travelled to Sarsfield yesterday evening but came up well short on a 1 - 18 to  0 - 9 scoreline. The Sash had a full complement of championship players available to them and they made it pay. The concession of a goal on the stroke of half time really made it an uphill battle for the lads and despite their best efforts the home side ran out comfortable winners.

The lads must put this defeat behind them now as they face into the 1st round of the championship next week when they face the formidable JTB in Hawkfield on Sat next at 4:30pm. We wish them the best of luck.

U16s capture League title
May 4, 2015, 6:54 pm

Congrats to our gallant u16 team and mentors who captured the U16 Div 4 title with a 1 - 13 to 1 - 5 win over Milltown in Hawkfield today. The game was tight right up to half time with little to separate the sides after Milltown profited from a 1st half penalty and it stood 1 - 4 to 0 - 8 at half time.

In the second half however the lads took a firm grip on proceedings around the diamond with Jamie Gammell, DJ Earley, Darren Prendergast and Darragh Foley commanding the area. Inside Adam Kavanagh got into full stride and when he found the net with about 10 minutes to go it really opened a gap that Milltown never looked like closing. They did get a last minute penalty but unlike their 1st half penalty they went wide from the spot. Rory Mahon and Jamie Gammell finished the scoring for the Blues and Darragh Foley was crowned winning captain and accepted the cup from Gerry Moran on behalf of Bord na nOg.

Well done to all concerned. This group of players has had lean years but today their perseverance paid off.

Minors capture Div 2 title with a remarkable comeback
Apr 26, 2015, 8:35 pm

Hats off to our minors today who showed tremendous character in the face of adversity and turned a 1 - 7 to 0 - 1 decicit after 20 minutes into a remarkable 2 - 18 to 2 - 12 win in the Div 2 league decider.  Showing early signs of nerves the lad failed to settle and with Alymer Gaels playing with the advantage of a stiff breeze they seemed to be first to every ball. Losing 1 - 7 to a point Adam Forde then kept the lads in the game with a remarkable save that helped to lift spirits and this was soon followed by a goal from Padraig Nash who showed great persistence in following up after being dispossed to force the ball home from close quarters. The lads then rolled off a few more point that left the half time deficit down to 4 points.

In the second half Sean Kavanagh and Paul Maloney rose to the occassion at midfield and provided the supply line to the forwards and in particular Padraig Nash who scored some remarkable scores including a goal which he dribbled, soccer style, to the net. Ryan Bannon also chipped in with some fine points and despite a rally from the Alymer Gaels midway thru the half the Blues ran our deserving winners on a scoreline of 2 - 18 to 2 - 12.

While there were some remarkable individual displays the whole squad and management deserve our congratulations for this win which is the culmination of effort since Jan. Well done and enjoy the celebrations !!

Seniors gain a last minute share
Apr 26, 2015, 8:24 pm

The seniors started very well against Towers in their Round 6 tie on Sat eve in Kildare and led 5 points to 1 after the mid point of the first half. Towers gained the ascendancy then and by the change of ends it was a 1 point game.

The second half saw Towers turn the tide and with the referee choosing to ignore a succession of incidents the tempers began to fray. With the final whistle nearing the Blues had only added 2 points to their opening half tally and needed a goal. On the final attack Paul Kelly launched a high lobbing free which Slugger got a touch on into the path of Cian Harrisson who forced it over the line. Draw match.

Both Towers and Monasterevan were extremely frustrated with the standard of referring on the night which spoiled an otherwise keenly contested derby game.
